Crux Climbing Coaching Academy

Welcome to Crux Climbing Coaching Academy

Our youth climbing clubs, specifically-made for young climbers aged 8 to 17, offer young people the opportunity to develop technique, confidence, skills and friendships through our weekly term time sessions.

Your child will learn vital climbing skills like belaying and rope work, all in an atmosphere that values respect and positive encouragement.

Join us, and watch your child's confidence and achievements soar as they conquer thrilling challenges, one climb at a time, at their own pace.

Ages 12 - 17

Welcome to our secondary age Climbing Club! This club is designed for young climbers aged 12-17 who are passionate about developing their climbing skills.

We understand that young climbers aged 12-15 may be using climbing as a physical activity section for their Duke of Edinburgh Award or GCSE PE, and we're here to support them every step of the way.

Once young climbers have enough maturity and experience with belaying, they can take an under 18s belay test at a climbing centre, which will allow them to climb unsupervised.

This typically takes place after age 14. If young people have passed a belay test, the price of their climbing session is reduced, enabling them to climb more often with their peers.

For young climbers aged 16 & 17 there may be opportunities to gain experience and qualifications in climbing instruction and coaching so that they can have a best start to their journey as young coaches.

Ages 8 - 11

Welcome to Crux Climbing Juniors!

This club is perfect for young climbers aged 8-11 who are looking to get the best possible start in their climbing journey. Our 1.5 hour sessions are designed to give small groups of up to 6 climbers the opportunity to learn the basics of climbing in a safe and supportive environment.

We focus on developing techniques and movement to improve climbing skills and introduce gameplay to make learning fun.

Our Crux Climbing logbooks and level certificates allow us to track achievements and celebrate progress along the way.

TRIAL SESSIONS

We understand that it can be hard to tell if your child will be interested in any activity before giving it a try first.

With this in mind we want to work with parents by offering an initial trial session at a discounted price of £12.

*Please note that trial sessions are limited to one trial session per child

HOME EDUCATION kids climbing clubs

Great news for parents who home educate their children! It has been found that climbing can be a fantastic form of fitness, socialising, and a way for kids to let loose.

While there are already some home education sessions available, we are eager to establish regular clubs in 2024. If you are a parent who would like discuss setting up a climbing group, please contact us the form at the bottom of this page. We'd love to hear from you!

AWAY DAYS

Crux Climbing is distinct due to the opportunity we offer to visit various climbing centres for away days, irrespective of the members' involvement in competitions.

We have previously organised exciting trips to several centres, such as The climbing hut in Shrewsbury, Creation Climbing Centre in Birmingham, and Depot Bouldering Centre, which not only provide great fun but also offer advantages such as exposure to different route setting styles and various centre types for a comprehensive climbing experience.
